The development of the European internal market gives new chances and challenges for companies that nowadays are required to plan and carry out their business within different Member States and in compliance with the relevant legislations. In order to keep up with competitors and remove obstacles arising from the disparity and limited territorial application of national company law, the European Union has issued several provisions, among which, the ones establishing and ruling the European Company, specifically designed for enterprises with an "European dimension".
